Ivan’s Pension is located in a pitoresque place, half way between Chilia Veche and Mila 23. It’s only neighbour is the only monk monastery in the Danube Delta, Sfantul Atanasie Monastery, also known as Stipoc Monastery – on one of the canals that flow into the Chilia Veche branch, the longest branch of the Danube River.
The surroundings tempt you twords adventure, as you can wonder around for days without getting bored, in the 16 natural reservations with specific characteristics of flora and fauna, like Roșca-Buhaiova-Hrecisca, Letea Forest, Periteașca-Leahova, Caraorman forest – each one with it’s own history and legend that you can learn from the hospitable locals.
Travelers through the Danube Delta can rest in the old port of Chilia Veche, who’s name is given by the legendary greek warrior Achiles, the settlement serving throughout the time as an important trading point. The pride of the most popular settlement in the Danube Delta Reservation is the Orthodox Church “Sfinții Arhangheli Mihail și Gavril”, with a height of 52 m, second in height in Romania -, who’s construction combines three architectural styles: gothic, slav and romanian.
Also, near the pension, 15 min by boat, there are the lakes Babina, Devil’s Lake, Matiţa, Merheiul Mare and Merheiul Mic.
